On the project for Exponential Growth and Decay, my group decided to show a real-life example of Exponential Decay by showing how the Black Plague decreased the population in Europe. We decided to show this in how much the population decreased in increments of five years. We took the percentages of the amount of fatalites that occured every five years and applied it to our class of thirty-one students. We then made card that we could put on our classmates' desks that would should if that person lived or not. We did several rounds of this and by the end of the game, we had one person left living.
In doing this project, i learned that not only did the show Exponential Decay, but it also showed Exponential Growth. This is because the population decreased while the amount of deceased people increased. I'm sure that this could also be applied to many other situations in life.
